the idea is to add events to spacetrace, where everyone is running at the same time towards a certain goal.
many players requested that the game should be in rounds again, but we already had this.
i think the reason, why you are wanting that is, that you you need some final day that you are working on, to be the first to reach the goal.
i think this is something spacetrace really needs, so lets think about options, how this could be done.
first idea:
every three months somewhere in the galaxy a supernova explodes. thus all planets are hit by a wave of subgravitonal energy. only the largest alliance has enough power to use this energy to reach a higher level... |

Maybe add some evvents with riddles like
for example:
De admin gets kidnapted by an ancient alliance ent hey send a riddle to every alliance with more than 1 player. In de riddle there is a message that gives the exect coords of where the admin is or the name of that pre-warp planet.
The alliance has to solve the riddle as fast as they can. When they solved the riddle. They get a golden DSP that they have to send to the planet (which is cloaked incase someone exedently passes that planet).
The DSP uncloaks the planet and gives the data of a normal DSP. Than the alliance who solved the riddle have to defeat the fleets that are there( also you have to use HQ invaders, not for the flag, but to free the admin).
What do you think of this guys _________________

Not just a final day, the reasons people want the rounds back:
- More players
It is very clear that the number of players has been in a constant decline since evolution.
- Constant competition ( reaching top 10 now is no fun, there is no competition at all. With events there would be SOME competition, but with rounds it would be endless thrilling and nice. )
I guess the lack of competition makes people leave, and it makes it less attractive for people to join back in.
- Better for newbies.
If the players ask this, I would like to know, why isn't it back to the game:
- Is it harder to implement and does it take more time?
It is always possible to ask somebody for help. Ok, you are the admin you simply own this game it is yours. But, you made it off course for the obvious reason that we, the players would have fun playing it. Well there will be much more fun when the rounds are back.
- Does it cost more money?
Just say so, I'll start donating right away and I am sure others will do so also.
- Do you believe it is bad for the game?
If there will come more members and other good changes will come, I don't see the bad side of rounds. Please explain to us instead of simply saying the game doesn't need it and instead coming up with something else again. |

Ratchet i think your idea would be ST3. I dont think it could be done.
We (at least what i've heard) dont want new ideas, we just want rounds. Rounds as they were!. If we have to make a paralel universe whata re we waiting? lets contact everybody that could help and we create that. You will see how the comunity on ST grows up |

Rounds sound good but so does the admins idea.
How about this. Domination Day In SpaceTrace.
You get 110 days or something to get as high as score as you can, then after 109 days say your fleets get moved automaticaly around the blackhole, your fleets are cloacked so no one can attack you until you login then your cloack is removed it would result in all fleets fighting there then the person that comes out with the most mp left gets a commendation in the hall of fame showing there score etc... and who they thought against on Domination day. Most of you might not like it but i think it would be good.
Plus DeCloack probes cant decloak your fleets only when you login are they decloaked. _________________ APEmpire |

Why would be usefull that idea? We are trying to make changes that are going to the "round" direction. That means the same ammount of work.
We need an idea that makes evolution more like a round without a hell of programation. |

Ugh. Well, easiest thing to say would be "Admin, please see the error of your ways " But it ain't my style
The quest idea - kidnapping the admin would mean that an imposter would take his place, introducing rounds; Then, when the real one gets rescued...
Ok, time to get serious
Anywho, this event basically means that, at the point of that supernova explosion (If it's known, it's an event. If it's not... well, then it's not too much of a final day) most people would simply form a one-time alliance, just to reach the higher level
Admin... we just want the rounds back. I do wonder what exactly makes rounds, erm, *un-automatable* (Yay! New English!).
It's just a guess, but, doesn't the start of a new round basically require for the old database to be copied somewhere, and, a new, empty one - created on it's place? Maybe a couple of lines in the PHP change to another couple of lines, or are added (now THAT's a guess).
Either way, I'd be more than happy to help by trying to write a simple *just-start* program that ends a round (yeah, with all sorts of timers), gives the break, and, starts a new one. It would do such stuff as switching the normal-PHP to black-hole-sucking-PHP once the round starts to end and then to sorry-wait-for-the-nex-round-PHP once the break is in place.
Just gimme the exact task (what has to be done, in the correct order, at what time etc.) and I'll try to make the program for ya
I doubt I can be of much assistance with the top10 posted in the forum and messages about round-starts, round ends etc. but I think it could be done by a forum-bot such as the Tec-server

I know that this is a old topic now but i have seen good ideas for events and people that want rounds back. I cannot help in making the rounds come back. But i have a idea for a event:
Attack of the Empire!
*Knight reads on dramatic tone*On servertime new years day, suddenly at 000/000/00 a large amount of fleets appear. They are from the Empire, a empire that dominates a galaxy close to the Milky Way. At warp 15, they go to the black hole at warp 15, coming closer every day, and attacking every planet they pass, MTWG's Wormhole Gates, and all ships and buildings are taken by the Empire. They disable your RC and SY for 3 days and all ships disapear. They look at your comlist and go to every planet on it, looking at his comlist, and so on. When they reach the black hole, they will ally with the alliance that currently has it and give it the flag of the #1 alliance. They will then go to the other scoreplanets and the alliance that holds the most scoreplanets will receive a 2500 points. They will then go to 999/999/99 and back to their Galaxy, attacking the other planets on the way. Race 15
On a random time and at a random date, a top 10 player gets attacked by a specie called Race 15. No points are lost, but the planet gets cloaked. The Race 15 will automaticly kill all people on the planet, and replace them with members of their own kind, but the kind is geneticly improved. All communication will be offline when he is cloaked. Then the cloak disappears and his fleets are refilled with ships called Gerronides. The player that kills the Gerronides will receive 5000 points. Then, Race 15 will suddenly disappear and all the normal functions of the top 10 player will be restored.....
Attack of the Potatoes
On a random time and date, 10 players with positive score bases will be struck by a weird disease, that spreads around their planets and when someone is infected, he or she will get mutated into a half potatoe. When everybody is done with the mutating, the half-potatoes will get to the current ships, modify them and fly with warp 15 to the graviton pulsar. Everyone's fleets that are there will be infected with the Potatoe disease. Then, the fleets fly to the BH, taking everyone's fleets again. At the end the will go to the Graviton Pulsar and take, again, all the fleets. Then, all the ships form a group together, and explode. The alliance that holds 1 of the scoreplanets again, will receive 7.000 points. This will be for all scoreplanets. |
