OK, this may be a dumb idea but hear me out:

To make spacetrace more interesting, why not have a selection of missions to choose from if you are bored or dont feel like fighting?

For example a real easy one could be:

Mission 1: Escort 'Someone' to 'somewhere *coords*'

When you have it done:

"Mission Complete: You are rewarded with 10 credits and 10 cruisers ready to be claimed."

A screen like what you get on a prewarp planet with ships on it would come up with the ships that are available to you, and if you get attacked and are really low on ships, instead of building them, you could "claim them" and get right into the battle again. And it could also help if credits become more useful in the game.

(Its just about 1:30am so Im really tired, so I dunno if this is a good idea or not.)

Please tell me what you think of this idea.

Its changed to just 'someone' now...
But it would be a good way to receive credits, points and ships, or some other things.

EDIT: I was gonna ask the same thing, lol, and there is 1 guest logged into the forum, so, prolly him.

yeah sounds cool but we need good adventures ... like plugging a nano virus into the great evil computer brain "led thought" which only can be found by decoding his shield generator on alpha 3

ive invented a plot which could be used it goes like this.

"[players name] this is colonol kickass the univers relies in your hands as u are the only one who can stop this menise. 18 hours ago a minor admin was kidnapped by the terrorist group Water-Hound and he is being forced too develope a ship which is so unbalanced it would bring about the destruction of the entire universe. Your mission objective is too rescue the minor admin and stop him from making this weapon before the universe comes too a end"

But then he gest too the planet destroys a couple of ships rescues the admin and it turns out its too late too stop the production but there is a way for you too destroy the weapon but then he suddenly dies from what looks like a heart atatck but it turns out the enemy turned his pacemaker off so he cant talk and then you take out of his pocket a riddle and it goes like this

fleet
someone with 1 eye x 5
a bird with a good eye x 5
a bird which lives in the north pole x 40
a pink bird on one leg x 7
a bug which bites x 3
someone which can predict things x 10
famously linked with aliens x 17
a japanese suicide bomber plain x 50
another bug this one with a stinger not a bee a... x 40

(i know that fleet is hurrendus and will never work in real life but for some reason it works against this new weapon)

but before you do that the admin asked you too rescue his sexy neice so you go and rescue here too and then you go fight the new weapon

suddenly a cyborg ninja which turns out too be your master suddenly appears out of no-where and destroys the shileding of the weapon but then dies so now ur fleet even tho its hurrnedus works!

so then u defeate the monster and take the colonols sexy neice home and enjoy more than the new points until u get captured and put on a torture machine by the terrorists but the colonol comes and rescues u

what do u think?

Get the hell outa here. It is meant to learn the game so you can build up your score. if I take 20 missions of 1500 points, I can be at 30 k within 2 weeks.

That's scoring at a DeathKiller rate. a bit much for a few missions.

@ Compu-head

Me? I am just posting my comment and thoughts about this idea.

In principal, I like it, and adding a few points for completing it is ok.

And if the goal is to fight a battle, then you shouldn't receive extra points, but just those for the battle. They are probably ensign-difficulty so it is a load of points anyways.

I do not like the sound of these missions at all. This game has no integrated plot, only what the players bring into it. Your alliance leader should be the one sending you on missions.

It sounds like people are asking for "adventure". I do think the game is lacking a bit in that manner, and adventure does rear it's beautiful head every now and then, usually when fighting online opponents or fighting with a partner.

I propose the following:

Flag capturing added a new dimension to the game. It is a fantastic way of "sticking it" to your opponents.

Now, how about turning it into plot? Why would a flag give your alliance points? Instead of a flag, what if it were an Admiral taken hostage, or a major heist of gold, fuel, battle plans, or technology? Plot added.

The flag, upon capture, immediately appears at the FCs homeworld. What if you had to actually bring it back in the HQ invader? And then you had to manually move it to a new planet? Maybe the fleet with the HQ invader could be tracked by the alliance that lost their flag, and the new "HQ defender" ship can stop a fleet carrying a flag in midspace. Wow, we just added chases and pursuits to the game! Adventure added.

This idea may be a bit hokey, and may need some fine tuning, but it keeps the adventure and action where it belongs, player vs player.

I got a new mission

The admin has been captured on a planet by the evil corporization of Water-Hound. The planet is full of zombies so you have too destroy the base, shipyard and research centre too kill all the zombies then rescue the admin

be prepared !!!

i will lay down a trace of riddles in space. i will tell you more soon ,,,

it will be called the ...

~~~ Spacetrace ~~~~
you will find messages on planets wich build the spacetrace . these messages are riddles which you will have to solve to get the coords of the next planet in the spacetrace. the order of th eriddles and the information you recieve are that way that you have to follow the hole trace. there is only one point: if players would post the list of planets or something the hole thing would be boring, am i right ?
i made a little example adventure mission. which starts here :
489/501/51
just fly there (you need to be there ) and try to solve the riddle. in the future there will be a destination page which will give you credits/ships/researches .. whatever
if you think you could help me making an adventure: pm me and send me your ideas.
