Why is it that one person has to sign on before a battle happens? Sometimes i watch my friends battles on probes but i cant see who won if neither person is on. |

Yes, that's true and has been there since the beginning of this game.
Don't ask me why, it has got something to do with the programming, but it was never fixed.
I hope your battles are not influenced too bad, and I wish you luck for all your future battles *g*
But it's no bug, its a feature |

the reason is the performance.
the calculation of the battles and all the selections and uptates that have to be done to find out who is fighting and so on take so much computerpower, that we decided to put it only into the fleets-bottom screen and the check-messages screen.
if everyone who is on a probescan would be checked if there has to be calculated a battle between some of them then the performance of the server would be punished too hard.
this way like it is there is enpough space for more than a thousand players and we think this is more important. |

And the game remains free to all. Dont complain too much, condider the alternatives.

But does it matter when the fight is calculated ? I mean, the DSP data has to change, does it matter when ?
I mean the one not fighting hasn't got to see the report, but how many ships there are.
For me it's fine anyway
btw: Bogart, are you Musty or do I get something mixed up ?

yes it does matter - you see how slow the fleets screen sometimes is? the probes screen would be even slower, if there was a battlecheck everytime you look at it for every point, where there are found some fleets (up to several minutes i guess). |

but my probe screen seems to update itself though. like all the fleets would be inactive one minute and the next they're on the move. |

rather than waiting for someone to log on to calculate the battle - just try to work the result out yourself lol - if you want to attack them you can still attack and their battle will be resolved before yours |
