the vessel probe is different totally. but doesn't the trace probe do something similar? i've never used it so i'm not sure though...

the trace probe only gives destination of fleet which leaves within it's scanradius, or which destination lies within it's scanradius.
I think this probe is meant to give the destination of fleets who are passing by, so as Lou said, good for hunting

offcourse, but the trace probe only records fleets which start their flight within it's radius, or end it there, not fleets who fly through its radius, that's the difference.

I think the Trace Probe will work better than this
Sometimes the attacker is far away and use an ally planet transwarp.
The Trace probe can record the fleet target coords (ANY)

well not much use for the probe is there. Would you really waste your time chasing a fleet that you have no idea about and try to kill it? |

from what i know, the probe isn't that useful b/c people can use decoy coords until they get out of range, then go to their base. i think that happened to me when i used it once.

we could change the trace probe that way, that it additionally shows all target coords of fleets within the scanradius.
the spy message should stay though, so the victom knows about its fate

I am for having a seperate probe. The reason is I hate to the "you have been spy on message" which I annoy the crap out of the spying player by changing my coordinate 20-40 times.

this has stopped now: a spymessage will only be one message with all the changes since the last message
