i think it would be fun to have this ability - it would be easy to implement and could open some funky possibilies:
armor: if a ship has armor 1 you can hit it only if you shoot with 2 or more on it
shields (maybe called evasive action or maneuverability ) : are specialized for big power shots. if a ship has shield 10 you can only penetrate its shields with a smaller shot, f.e. 5 or 1
i think that's fun |

It sounds cool, but that would mean: making the tactical game even more complex than it already is! I'm not sure if that's good for the game.
EDIT: I think I get it now ... You mean it would be a special ability for single ship types. I thought first every ship would get an armor rating. |

i dont get the logic.
if the armor class is 1 you have to hit at least 2 points of damage and when the ac is 10 you have to hit under 10?
or is armor and shield different?
i like the sound of this idea otherwise. |

it's like:
a ship with armor 2 cannot be damaged by a fighter (1 ap) and cannot be damaged by an eagle (2 ap) but can be damaged by a destroyer (>2 ap)
a ship with maneuverbility 10 would be immune against a cruiser (ap 100) and immune against a destroyer (ap 10) but would be damaged by a fighter or eagle (ap < 10) |

ok i get it. its 2 different effects then. armor and mobility.
i like it, but it can change the tactical play a lot. one c3 with mobility can hold up an infinite number of cruisers. kinda like what blockade runners do. |

interesting idea. i like it because 'in real 'this would be relevant factors in battle!
However because i'm not that smart i can't comprehend yet what this means for the gameplay.
Isn't it getting to complicatad? to much variables could be to much...?
how can you use it in your tactics? and is senor right that there is something that - in effect - works like that already ( blockades/interc)
btw: i like it a lot that you guys put that much effort in the game again!! _________________ “All war is deception.” |

it can define the classes really nice. and it is very pictorial.
imagine a very agile fighter that can maneuver around the slow but powerful shots of a destroyer...
imagine a heavy armored cruiser that can easily fly through a swarm of little figthers...
i will not program it soon.. just so much fun right now improving the game.

armor can fall(maneuverability as well?)with every hit, separate from LP. It should take the damage until it gives. Just a way to balance really. |
