new inventions.

- ships testing area -

pls discuss with me about some cool new ships you/others invented.

try to find out which are the really best new ships !

good means:

- balanced
- cool effect/style
- needed for the game

a new ship should pass all three criteria !

the newly released hammer:
balanced-> 16 mp for a class 1 ship with this effect is balanced
effect-> this effect caused by a class 1 vessel is new to the game, although it's no revolutionary effect
needed for the game-> this ship balances the reconstructors and it can be combined with eagles

Ok... @Luis&BladeTech - plz. guys, DON'T post here... Not a single message, let's be serious!

@SpaceTrace - I've made some suggestions on the battle engine - the random,reassemble,specific and hit_by parameters /might be more, can't remember / - what do you think about them?

OK, I'll do a brief survey on my own inventions... /I'll pass on the projectile-interceptor.../ Hope you don't mind...

1. Freelancer - this is a really weird ship, my first invention actually... It's a bit unbalanced, so I doubt someone will actually build it... It's too weak for it's serious disadvantage, it should have 8 AP - as it's worse than the penguin...

I don't think that you'll like it as a player-available ship... But why not do it for the Travellers race?

balanced -> 1mp because it not only selfdestructs, but also joins your enemy. A little weak - 8AP will be good.

effect -> I doubt it has allready been done. A relatively new style for the game

needed for the game -> As a player-available, it can be used for total devastation at low cost... As a traveller-ship it would be interesting - imagine that the travellers send 100 of them to the Black Hole for example

2. nano-eliminator - this ship replenishes your fleet by using the wreckage of an enemy sheep.

-> balanced - the MP after the transformation is equal to that of the destroyed ships; Can be used only once; Has to be intact by the end of the class3 battle to do it

-> effect - truly represents the nano-technology /like in Area51/ - to infect and reassemble the own fleet from enemy ships

-> needed for the game -> it's like the carrier, but also adds some ships in your own fleet in class2; Has own attack; Can easily counter big expensive ships like the Dreadnought, Appolos, Flamingos, even Shock-waves and so on - points are gained only if such ship is dismantled, otherwise the result is 0

3. Coward ship - this ship is particularly useful vs. doomstars, 'cause with it you have a big chance of not loosing a single point in the struggle... Affects all kinds of kamikaze-craft...

-> Balanced - expensive /250 MP/; It only jams the kamikaze-craft, therefore no points are gained by itself alone; Useless against normal fleets; Easy to kill - only two shots are needed; The new created ships will break up the act, but nobody knows if it'll be too late... They however don't stay in the enemy's fleet...

-> Effect - it creates retreat vessels in the enemy's lower classes, therefore your class3 has a bigger chance against lower-class based fleets... It'll be a "fresh" addition to the game...

-> Needed for the game - can easily stop a fleet's total destruction, for example a few class3 vs a swarm of kamikazes; Can save your buildings against the mantis... Useful against any sort of kamikaze-craft...

4.) Sharpshooter - should be a changed little ; Maybe do 2 dmg to class2 and 4 to class3?

-> Balanced - even though it fires into higher classes and is relatively cheap, it has a very serious "IF" - it can only fire in the higher classes after it has survived through the class1 /respectively class2/ battle; Also does the damage to a random enemy class2 and 3 -> little chance of destruction...

-> Effect - the neglected now class1 fleet will become more popular, yet not too strong;

-> Needed for the game - very few players now rely on the class1-based fleet; Most of the fleets by the black hole are HUUUGE /400-900!!!/ and class2-based;

Yep I think that is what he wants Melody. And, there is a ship in the works I think, that does pretty much the same as the nano eliminator.

Anyway, is this discussion only for the inventors themselves, so they can "defend" their creations?

The Baelirioum Corvette is good for hit + run tactics... guerilla warfare, however, i realy like the KAZUUULA CRUISER and it like the eagle is half the manpower, for half the firepower, and it is really a good invention, however, could there be a Wasp for class 3?

A wasp for class3 could easily mean that shock-waves and even missiles, torpedoes, and EVEN mantis can have an additional attack;
And imagine 20 flamingos /2000 MP/ + the rest MP in Class3-Wasps

I think what admin wants (and I am assuming I dont know for sure) Is your opinions about which ships should be introduced on to tech planets soon, like the hammer.

I dont think there have ever been more than 4 ships introduced mid round, so, think hard!!

So, just have a read through the new inventions, and pick a couple you really really like and discuss why etc here.

@starlight you are right

we should only discuss the real possible inventions here.
all specific discussions should take place at the certain ship-post in "new inventions"
this topc here only is about to find out which ships we could add NOW without further thinking about them.

I think drug x and the war factory are interesting, but probably too complicated to put in mid round. The better inventions seem to be the ones further back I think.

There are several that seem to have very similar functions with slightly different ap/lp/mp etc.

I also quite liked the repair fighter though I think it probably should be 0/1

Please, consider adding either the Phantom Destroyer (costing 12MP) or the Protector (costing 4MP and being 0/5) to the game.
It doesn't have to be this round but I think they would be a nice addition.

Me and many others feel that the pathfinder is a very good and needed ship for many situations which they may find themselves in. It should really be considered very deeply on how to make it truely work and make bugless

Yeah, it sounds goo, but you will lose your planet and it will become a prewarp planet, I think that's needed, I think you all must do a "massive destruction ship" for micylloids(I will do it, but it will end in impossible inventions then...)
MeLody: why you can talk here and bladetech and us no? you Spa... chitchat a lot too...

BTW are any ships likely to be dropped out of the game? Like the Strike fighter etc?

Very cool, though it really should be half manpower

Trading Ship:
Needed!!! Butr before it can be added, the whole trading concept should be revised, and added to the game
