This is just a suggestion. Every once and a while Space Trace drags (is very slow to respond or pull up). This has bitten me before, like seeing someone is fixing to attack me and then you go to your fleet screen to make adjustments for defense or something and can't get in.
I know this is a bandwith issue, or at least I suspect it is. My suggestion is for the administrators of the game to run a program automatically purging old emails from all players' inbox and sent items every month that are older than one month. I am as guilty as the next player that I do not go in and manage my emails the way I should by keeping the important ones in my journal and deleting the rest. Have you ever tried to click on your sent items? It takes forever for that screen to pull up, if it does? I have a feeling that when the game is running extremely slow, that players are trying to access their sent items and thus slows down the play of everyone. So I suspect that a ton of bandwith is used up to store all unecessary emails from the players, such as myself, that either have ignored managing their email both sent and received, or do not know any better to do so.
I think by having an automatic monthly purge of emails (not from the journal), but from the inbox (messages) and sent emails will free up a wealth of bandwith and assist in the game running smoothly and quickly most of the time.
It will also force players, like me, to pay more attention to the emails that are important by sending them to their journal. |

nothing really to add, I am as guilty as you and try to manage the mail but not always successful. The only adjustment in your posting, make it ones a week and we pay more attention which isn't that hard if I wouldn't be so lazy. Copy and paste into a txt file would do for most if they want to keep everything, then only thing to do is del ingame. The server went down so often yesterday that my battle plans were not what they should of been either. I am going to clean out my messages in any case. |

@ Case & @ Skyfreak...
Thanks, I would like to here from the Admin's on this, because anything we as players can do to make the game move more smoothly I think all of us would do it.
The Admin's can push this forward if they believe it makes sense and can could act on some, if not all of the suggestions.
Thanks |

I think this is something the admins should consider. Especially with the revolving turns. If someone wanted to keep several emails (with coms in them) they could send to a buddy and pick them up after they restart. The only reason I say this is that it would increase the message load. |
