progressive probe
this discovery probe utilizes a low entensity warp scanner that can scan while in warp, so as it moves it continuously scans its area and establishes com relays with planets in the sectors it moves through, but as a side effect it is bearly capable of warp-one and has a scarandius of 2
i was hoping this would act as a long term probe, simply finding everything between you and its destination in a reletively large expanse of time
scanradius: 2
speed: warp 1
researchtime: 3 d
buildingtime: 1 d 12 h
nanite-technology
needed research:
final exploration |

i like this its kinda like the pyramid devise but it only uses one probe slot but as the disadvantage it travels slower very balanced invention i vote yes _________________ "Although the constant shadow of certain death looms over everyday, the pleasures and joys of life can be so fine and deeply affecting that the heart is nearly stilled by astonishment" - Dean R Koontz |

I like it aswell, you could even make it travel a little faster in my opinion, like warp 2 or something, that would still take ages to fly through space.
But thats just me.

I like this probe as well but I do not think I would use it. It's because of it's really slow speed. Like a poor man's pyramid ship.
If this probe would show what pre-warps have production facilities, as well as inhabited planets and fleets.... kinda a cross between a DSP and an archeology probe, I would devote a probe slot for it on occassion for my first 30-40% of my evo. |

yes i like the invention but there's another drawback --> final exploration so you can only have 2 fleets anymore than
and i also don't think this invention should have a specific race _________________ By suffering comes wisdom

i like it, and it will not be nanite and the needed research could be something earlyer too.
i am not sure about the speed and scanradius, but i think warp 2 and scanradius of 5 would be ok |

the self destruct part is useless seeing u would prob destroy it nyways _________________ PWNAGE!

Will this probe work as a pyramid device or DSP? If so i vote no.
Its pretty good indeed, so you can constantly see the new players on the space. Warp 2.5 and scan radius 3. 5 Would be pretty much. It would travel 5 times less than the IP but just 1/2 less on scanradius? |

I would like to know that also , does it only shows players or also fleets and bases ? ? _________________ Greetz Connor

if it works as DSP then selfdestruction isnt useless |

Wow it becoming balanced not as the weak suggested version, and possible consideration over investigation probe

It work as investigation probe, so just adding players to com screen

Hehe and how much is scanning with 1/2 radius in sphere?
V = 4/3 * pi * r*r*r
so if you cut r in half, you will get 8 times less V (2*2*2)
so it will scan 8 timess less space on particular coords than the probe with 2 times bigger scanradius. But because it is moving, lets consider the best you can get in particular direction is 75 sectors where players are located, so it will get (cube because it is moving)
V= a*a*75, where a=(2*5) thus 10
V= 7500
you need 75 sectors * 75 minutes = 5625 minutes or 94 hours, together with building time maybe 100 hours total
normal investigation has sphere
V = 4/3 * pi * r*r*r, where r=10
V= 4188
building time 4 hours and if you send 4 at 10, 25, 40, 55 sectors away (normally you want 20 difference to not making overlaps, but this is example to simulate the moving probe a bit)
you will need 16 hours building time, plus 10*15 + 25*15 + 40*15 + 55*15 (minutes) or 1950 minutes or 33 hours plus the building time 16 hours is around 50 hours in total, while scanned V is about two times bigger. So it is still 4 times better than moving version.
So because normal investigation probe is 5 times faster and it scan up to 8 times bigger V it is still better sending investigation probes to scan the universe, but you need time to manage them and have some plan where sending (not on random locations)

its nice but the research could be changed its not nice if you want three fleets but also the probe but its a nice invention

yup, my english su ck
also used only high estimates and cube instead of cylinder... oops, so the moving probe is even slightly worse
