a lot of playas request a defense system for the planet.

there are many suggestions but we want something that is different from the existing ships.
some suggestions are very nice but not programmable.
pls post more suggestions here and we could dicuss that.

here is my first suggestion:

defense tank
class 3
10/150
20 mp

this is not very uncommon, but as you know there are more possibilties, maybe something with jamming would be nice...
(for kazuula)

jam-station
class 4
0/500
jams 2 enemy ships

or simply blockers

blocker
class 3
1/10
mp 2

all planetary defense should have an own charakter, mostly defensive

hi there,

i think plantary defense system (pds) unnecessary 4 the game:

1.) u have to find the planet
2.) u have to fly there
3.) u have to win the battle

all 4 kicking out a player 4 some days of
reserve troops & research (which is mostly
all finished anyway).
and u get a few points 4 that ....

its just grave 4 small alliances & standalones if being besieged - lucky me, being in a big alliance ))
but who has the nerves to do so. and if send a hint to some other alliance of where to go and what to meet there.
if besieging becomes a problem there should be thought about something against THAT.

if u want defence ship like

defense tank
class 3

jam-station
class 4
0/500
jams 2 enemy ships

blocker
class 3
1/10
mp 2

u get nothing being worth called "a combat" - its hunting traget dummies.
( think of a 40 cruiser fleet fighting against 38 cruiser and 100 blockers (same price but who will win...thats boring)

even if u let those so called ships be bound to planetary home base (not spaceable)due to the things mentioned in the beginning planets must stay attackable 4 thats the only place to catch a player who flees all the time and hides somewhere in space!

so forget about Planetary Defence Systems !!!!!

to counter misunderstandings & useless communication about that:

of course u only get 80 blockers instead of 100 in that example of mine.

Whats about my suggestion with the planetary shield?
It would only stop the attackers for some time where I can get help or rebuild my fleet.

Another nice idea would be some kind of warpfieldirregulator, which makes the incoming fleet slower or even redirects them. (Could be a small chance of redirection).

Some kind of cloaking for the planet would also be a nice gadet (you cannot find the planet with your probes so easilie, fleets miss the planets, they cant attack immediatelly, because they have to search the planet and its fleets...)

What about an minefield, which only attacks class 3 and class 4 ships?
Or only attacks class 1 and class 2 ships, whatever you want.

Or something race-specific, an reconstruktor for the mushrooms *G*
which rebuilds ships of all classes,
some kind of kamikazefighters for humans, the mentioned jammingstation for kazuulas, a big hologenerator for e-rays, and something for the nanites...

b.t.w. the planetary shield is nice but not programmable

pls.post all suggestions we will choose the best ideas, but will not comment all,
sorry for that, but there are too many requests right now, and we can't give a explanation to all suggestion, why we think they are not good for the balance of the game... and so on
