there were same major changes (for example Mighty was banned for a time when he tried to play God. but actually he's a nice guy, so we let him play again )
the major changes are:
the Era-System: you can join whenever you like, your evolution time will be 90 days untill your planet gets destroyed (by a race, that seeks other civilisations with an evolution state of 100%). this way everyone has the same chances to score in the top 100
alliances have their own score now. so if a player leaves an alliance the score he fought for (or against) this alliance stays with it. the points you win or loos only count for the alliance the time when you are in the alliance.
wormholes that connect different areas of the galaxy with a transwarp network that is 2.5 times as fast as normal and one big wormholethat connects the central area with the other end of explored space 100 times as fast.

Start-Up alliances:
New players are automatically in one of Two alliances that ar at War with each other.

... and lots of more. |

ha, i too appreciate this information, ive tried to figure out what i remembered and whats new from conversations on irc and by exploring the game, but for example I only heard about the battle simulator from friend during some random conversation.
Haven't played actively since late 2003, i believe.
This creature lab thing looks cool by the way |
