In the new Spacetrace Wiki everybody can help to create an alround Manual and Help-Site for all Spacetrace Players.

To get it all Formatted correctly Here are some Suggestions How to handle new Entries:

If a Page has not much Content yet and needs more explanation, you should use the stub tag.
The stub template is automatically put in then:

This article is a stub. You can help the Spacetrace wiki by expanding it.

And also list it under the category stubs.
http://wiki.spacetrace.org/index.php/Category:Stubs

Also, the page name should be Alliances, and not Alliance. The only exception to this could be possibly Shipnames

Oh, and DD, please don't put your timestamp on every page you have edited. The time, date, and your name are recorded on the page's edit history. Putting your timestamp on a page just clutters it up.

Anybody have anything else to say about the wiki?

I'd love to help, even if that question isn't directed at me

I think you can find it on the mediawiki site...

EDIT: This should help.

On a wiki, only the first letter of the title should be capitalised. This excludes names, as an article would still be called The last will of Shade (an example, I couldn't think of anything better).

Oh, and Admin, I have some experience on using wiki's, adding information and tags and such, but adding new templates and the likes are uncharted territory for me.

For guidelines on editting and creating Wiki articles, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style

Also, Admin, if you would enable the uploading of files, we could use internal links and such for files, and it would make putting pictures up easier. Of course, it would put extra strain on the server, so I would understand if you would like to keep it disabled.

i think we don't need uploading, cause all pictures are already on the server, you can easily add pics like this:

http://wiki.spacetrace.org/index.php/Fighter

(just put the link to the pic in the article)

Upon doing a bit of research, I've figured out how to create categories, subcategories, and templates.

If a page is too short, just add stub at the bottom, and if an article needs pictures, but needpics at the bottom.

i split the discussion about spacetrace ships here:
http://www.spacetrace.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=73418#73418

this discussion is about the wiki

so, ... it is great if you just start creating wiki pages and link them with each other.

its very easy, for example like this:

Code:
the fighter is a classes

this would link fighter to a new page about the fighter, and 'class 1 ship' to another page about 'classes'

everybody can edit all pages by just clicking the "edit" button on top

the wiki will replace the manual, once it's fitisched

but otly the static contents.

lists of technologies etc. will stay linked to the manual, cause they change too often

for example this page will stav in the manual:
http://manual.spacetrace.org/races.php?lang=en

now you can link directly to a ship-page with this code:
Code:
<ship>fighter</ship>

see

good that you do something

but you make one mistake:

"1 hammer, 15 bounty hunter vs 15 eagles

A hammer uses a heavy particle blast to do 2 damage to all c2 and c3 ships in your and your enemies fleet. 1 bounty hunter will destroy a ship that has already been damaged. Seeing as those 15 eagles there have been damaged, the bounty hunter destroys them all! . "

the bountys will loose points here take destroyers as exampel

So you mean 1 bounty hunter destroys all the ships that have already been damaged?

hammer 16 MP
Bounty 4 MP

Eagel 4 MP

hammer get active - 16
eagel destroy bounty -4
bounty destroy eagel +4

and so on at the end you loose with that

Thanks for bringing the topic up, I can put some work into the wiki again.

Right now, I think the main focus should be first removing the whole backlog of uncategorized pages, and then going on a joint effort of cleaning up articles (capitalisation, grammar, adding links to other pages, etc.) and adding new information.

For adding new information, try going down the Wanted pages list, but be careful not to create duplicate articles, as an article may already exist, but the link to the article was wrong.

(E.g, there is an article named AP/LP, but if somebody links to Attack power and Life power, then that will show up in the Wanted pages list.)

nice work

you can olso find out where a page has links from with the button "What links here".

this is very useful, if you try to find duplicates and want to redirect pages to other fitting pages

redirects are also easy:
for ecxample if you want to redirect to the page attitude, just write:
Code:
#REDIRECT attitude
