This sounds fun...
But 4.30 PM, will this be GMT, or GMT+1 (German time)? _________________

This sounds cool about time we had something to get people onto IRC , I'll try and get on, only problem is about what time it will be, wether American, Dutch or English . _________________

I'd say that late in the evening would be good, as American people would be able to play too... Say, GMT 22:00? _________________

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Rules~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now it’s time for the rules, each quiz comprises of 4 sections -
The first section is a quick buzzer round, comprising of 3 minutes of questions, each fastest correct answer is worth 1 point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second round is much more slower, and is more complex too. Basically, there will be a word you have to find which contains the first letter of each answer, for instance, if I said:
‘which race can research mosquito?’
the answer would be Human, therefore your letter would be ‘H.’
Then I say another question, such as:
‘which research do you need before you can start to research and build an Apollo Cruiser?’
The answer would be improved field theories, so the letter would be ‘I’ you would then have a second letter, which together with the ‘H’ would make ‘HI.’
Each combination will make a word or two, such as CAMPAIGN SHIP, or BATTLE REPORT.
For each question, contestants need to send their answer, (which would be a letter) to Quizmaster.
For each correct letter 5 points will be awarded, And if the full word(s) have been sent and spelt correctly, an extra 10 points will be awarded.
-------------------- 5 minute break to calculate scores and refresh ------------------------
Third Round -
A cross between Pontoon and Countdown, The QuizMaster will give a number, this number will be the possible number of men working for your planet, such as 5050, or 5630. The leader in the game will have to choose 6 cards from 1 - 10, and each card will have a ship on it. Weather c1, c2, c3, c4, the contestants have to try and get as close to the target (say 5630) as possible usig to amount of man power In those cards. They cannot pick random numbers to get close to the target, the have to either plus, minus, divide or times using only the amount of man power for the selected ships. Here’s an example for those who do not know what I’m talking about .
6/10 cards:
Carrier - 600 X
Cyclops - 120
Hammer - 16
Evasor - 60
Plasma Emitter - 10 X
Sporator - 5
Now, to get to the target you need to either +, -, /, x, to get nearest to your target. You have 2 minutes to do so.
Target, 5600
600 x 10 = 6000
60 x 5 = 300
6000 - 300 = 5700 (nearest possible target)
Each number can only be used once. If the jackpot is hit, you get 50 points, for every point away you minus 0.5 from 50. In the above round I got zero points, As I was 100 points away (100 x 0.5 = 50). In this round contestants my use a calculator. Also, please note that cards will be marked like this:
3 class 1’s
3 class 2’s
2 class 3’s
2 class 4’s
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round 4
The top 3 players are the only ones who enter the final round. The final round composes of the ST Menu, in the top middle of the screen. The question topics go like this -
Communication > HQ > Production > Research > Probes > Fleets
Six topics, each finalist chooses two topics, and trys to get as many points from them as possible. Each correct answer is worth 15 points, each wrong answer is worth -15 points. Contestants can go for double questions, which contain two answers that are needed for the answer to be right. The points for these are 30 for a correct answer, and - 30 for a wrong answer. If there is a tie at the end of the round, a sudden death question will be made and will come from the Manual, where the first person to answer correctly wins. The points are reset for Round 4.
And that is it
Also, one more rule, NO ABBREVIATIONS! _________________ Bringing ST quizes to you every Sunday! |
The First ever Spacetrace Quiz took part tonight! In total 3 contestants entered!
KoT
al12
MoorDeybe
The winner was....
al12!!!!!!
MoorDeybe came second (by default)
KoT came third (by default - quit halfway through)
al12 received 15 credits, and MoorDeybe 10.
Frankly I'm appalled to the lot of you who did not notify me of your absense. Many platers could of benifited from you being there. You should feel ashamed of yourselves. The next quiz will only be held if enough players log on to IRC.
Thankyou to those who respectably did take part, or at least told me what their plans were. _________________ Bringing ST quizes to you every Sunday! |
Sorry I had to go.. But I'll try next sunday. (naturally you'll see Shade stops by then, too...)
Had I continued, I'd probably have been second. Oh well. Better luck next time for me. _________________
