we disabled negative score for players already.
how about not counting negative scores anyway?
example: having a battle - one gets 1000 points , one get -1000.
how about just giving the 1000 points for the winner and the loser just gets 0 !
i think negative scores are demotivating. the new system would cause no trouble at all - just the end scores for all alliances would be higher.
what do you think ??? |

hmm...
i think i like it. there wouldnt be any negative sides to this change really except not being able to reduce somebodys score.
what do others think? |

there is one thing that is a problem... you can battle against your own ally mates... and that would rise the score for your alliance - and it wouldn't offend the rules.
so maybe for that case - fighting against your ally mates - negative scores should count.
but with this addition it should be no problem |

hmm, i like the idea too, but what about 3 players meeting in a big battle?
or if you have more than one fleet? one to clear the area and one to make some points???
hmmm...
have to think..... |

ah, yes i didn't think about having multiple fleets...
usually i calculate losing some points with the first battle(s) to score with the 3rd.
if you can't lose points then defending your motherships wouldn't matter as much anymore. it would change the tactical part of the game quite a bit in that respect. |

how about it applies only to waring alliances? It would give a little more incentive to start wars. get a little more action in the game. |

what if we would make this optional, the following way:
Code: | let's call it the "ruthless mode" - if a player has activated the ruthless mode, he can lose points. |
Code: | if one has not the ruthless mode, he cannot lose points, but will only gain 50% of the score. |
for noobs it's default off , once turned on you cannot turn in back off for the rest of the era (once on the dark side....)
it's kind of a newbie protection - you can try out some things without having all the time negative scores. on the other hand : for veterans not much will change.

pls. think about the suggestion - i think it is really important to support new players...
if they achived a bit and then get beaten up by a veteran, they get easily frustrated. i think the suggested can help to support newbies until they feel good enough to join the ruthless veterans .
for veterans generally nothing will change , they will all choose the ruthless way.
pls. point out the weak parts of this idea! |

at first glance i thought it was a bad idea and too complicated, but now that i think of it...we should remove newbie protection and have this mode instead...
what happens when a ruthless player fights a non ruthless player? the ruthless gets full score still if he wins? |

we are working on this and want to add it :
the rules will be:
- every new player starts in honour mode
- every player can choose to end his honour mode any time to change into the ruthless mode
- every player is only able to return to honour mode during the era pause
in honour mode:
- in a battle you only get 50% of the positive score
- you wont get negative scores...except if you battle against an alliance member, (in this seldom case you would get negative scores)
- your fleets won't be able to hold a score planet (though you can still help a ruthless alliance member to defend it)
- all other scores will work as normal (score planets, flag stealing)
in ruthless mode:
-everything is just like always (100% score, negative scores etc....)
i think this is a very reasonable rule set - do you think so too? |

Like it a lot!
But why shouldn't you be able to hold a score planet in honorable mode? Is this really necessary? |

yes it is needed ... else you can hold the score planets without the risk of losing score... i dont think that anyone would play pirate then...
but ... honourmode players can help defending it
